An anti drug campaign called “No
to drug” was conducted by the government of kerala during the drug abuse
prevention and control week. A formal inauguration was held in all educational
institutions including our school, Govt. Model GHSS, Pattom. Chief minister
Pinarayi Vijayan had inaugurated the state level observance in the state
capital.
The first phase of the campaign
ended on November 1. As part of this an Anti-drug human chain was formed by
teachers and students including NSS and NCC volunteers from various educational
institutions. For this programme a total of 200 students along with 17 teachers
including training teachers of the high school section had participated from
our school. Being teacher trainees the head master had asked all the seven of
us (Reshma, Rejina, Arathy, Soumya, Beena, Gayathry and Anu) to accompany the
students. The human chain stretched from Gandhi park to the Ayyankali sqare in
Vellayambalam in the capital city. The place allotted for our school was from
secretariat to University college, Palayam.
We left our school at 2.30 pm in
school buses and reached in front of University College by 2:45 pm. We helped
the students to form the human chain. The SPC cadets were grouped together. The
“No to drugs” pledge was administered at the public meeting held at Martyr’s
Column in palayam. All the students and teachers repeated the pledge and the
programme came to an end by 4.30 pm.
